When you are making a trip to El Yunque Rainforest, you may want to pair it with a place to eat lunch. Palmer, Puerto Rico which is El Yunque’s gateway community, offers several great options to choose from. Conveniently located at the foot of Rt 191 to El Yunque Rainforest so stop by to visit us on your way to El Yunque Rainforest or Luquillo. Palmer is an on-the-cusp artisan community. There are many things to do in Puerto Rico’s El Yunque Art District with a couple of boutique stores, artisan galleries, a bakery, deli, juice bar, and post office. Puertorican Bakery

Open Daily. This bakery serves up fresh pastries, sandwiches and typical Puerto RIcan food for breakfast and lunch. Traditional Puerto Rican bakery items. Their Facebook Page

Degree 18 Juice Bar

Open Daily 9am-6pm. This juice bar serves up all-natural smoothies, juices, acai bowls and vegan options. They also have alcohol! So you can be healthy with a splash of rum! Their Facebook Page

La Cana

This place has the most wonderful Caribbean flavors of ice cream and sorbet! Sour Sop, Guava, Coconut, papaya, PR Cherry handmade ice creams and shakes. Perfect to cool off after a long hike in the rainforest. They are open on the weekends.

This map is slightly outdated – the El Yunque Coffehouse is now Mi Vida and the bakery and La Cana aren’t on the map – but Calle Principal in Palmer is the place to be!
