Puerto Rico Food Must Have: Adobo Seasoning

If you are a fan of Puerto Rican food, or you would like to start cooking Puerto Rican typical food, you will definitely need Adobo Seasoning in your pantry. It is a must have for any Puerto Rican cook.

Adobo simply means “seasoning mix” and every Spanish speaking country has their own. You can put it on everything from rice and beans to meats and eggs and soups and stews.

It is a savory, all-purpose seasoning that imparts garlic flavor and is normally used to season and/or marinate meat, chicken, or fish. It is so fundamental in Latin Cuisines that adobado means “marinated and cooked in adobo sauce”. It is perfect on pretty much everything and great for all preparation methods – frying, baking, sautéing, grilling and so on.
