Oftentimes, when coming off a cruise ship in the port of San Juan, Puerto Rico there is not a lot of time to explore the island. There are many ways to do this – walking or via Segway tour, Trolley, or horse-drawn carriage. This is a great way to get an overview of the Old City.

From visiting the forts El Morro and San Cristobal, to a visit to the Capital Building or Juan Ponce de Leon’s house, and the many museums, including the Institute of Puerto Rican culture, there are many options to learn about Puerto Rico’s long history and it’s regional and geo-political importance throughout the centuries.

Or go to Casa Cortes to try local chocolate – their entire menu incorporates chocolate. Have some ceviche at the Parrot Club. Drink coffee at Caficultura or the many other cafes supported by the local coffee plantations.
