Puerto Rico Geography Fact #1:
- The world’s 3rd largest underground river is in Camuy, Puerto Rico. This river helped form the Camuy caverns, which are made of natural limestone caves. Eighteen entrances have been found so far, but there is much more to explore and study.
Fact #2:
- El Yunque in Puerto Rico is the only tropical rainforest in the US Forest System. It is also has the most biodiversity! You can visit our store in Palmer on the way to visit to El Yunque.
Fact #3:
- It is estimated that there is more Nickel in the mountains of Puerto Rico than in all of the U.S. combined. Nickel is part of stainless steel and is used in magnets, electric guitar strings and more. Bronzes and brasses are made using nickel alloyed with other metals.
Fact #4:
- The Bermuda Triangle is bounded roughly by Florida, Bermuda and Puerto Rico. You can visit the southernmost point by going to the Las Cabezas lighthouse in Fajardo.
