Single origin Dominican Arabica Coffee is a specialty coffee of Dominican origin, 100% Arabica Coffee.   This coffee is the original descendant of the same coffee variety brought to the Caribbean in 1723 by a young naval officer Gabriel de Clieu. Clieu obtained a coffee plant he was presented by King Louis XIV of France for cultivation in the New World. After many hardships Gabriel managed to transport the small coffee plans to Martinique safely for reproduction.  From there the precious coffee sprouts were taken to the Island of La Hispaniola, now the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

In 1738 records show the first coffee factory opened in the French part of Santo Domingo. The factory production developed prosperously, so much in fact, it was from these plantations that most of the coffee consumed throughout Europe was exported from the DR

By 1872, the Dominican Republic was already a coffee producing powerhouse of the entire Caribbean region, recognized worldwide by the expert merchants and roasters of premium coffee all over the world.
