Manatees, or “sirenas” as they are also known, are herbivorous marine mammals that inhabit shallow waters, especially in areas with seagrass beds. In Puerto Rico, they can be found on the coast and in estuarine areas, with greater concentrations in the east and south of the island, but now you can take them with you everywhere. This beautiful manatee plush features the Puerto Rican flag embroidered on its stomach.

Like many other animals, manatees are in danger of extinction in Puerto Rico due to human activities such as hunting, boat strikes, habitat encroachment, and pollution. Many groups are carrying out conservation efforts to protect manatees and their habitats.
