Rum cocktails are the most popular type of cocktail served on the island. This rum cocktail recipe is a great drink to make to cool down after a long day or serve a small get together of friends.
If you want to serve this as a party cocktail, set the glasses out first then make each one individually so that the layers can be enjoyed by guest. Tell a short story about the El Yunque Parrots to make your guest appreciate the inspiration for this cocktail.
The El Yunque Parrot is a symbolical name representing the few parrorts left in Puerto Rico. There are less than 50 Puerto Rican Parrots left in the El Yunque Rain Forest, Puerto Rico’s tropical rainforest. Much loved on the island these beautiful birds are on the endangered species list.
- 1 ounce Midori
- 1 ounce Galliano
- ½ ounce grenadine
- 1 ounce white rum
How to make it:
This is a layered drink so it is important to pour each one carefully. Fill a tumbler with ice and pour the grenadine in first. Then the Midori, followed by the Galliano and float the white rum on top.
**Optional: garnish with an orange slice or a cherry
