This is a flexible class with one of our favorite local photographers. Perfect for a visit to the Rainforest or even at the hotel! He will do a combination of field and classroom instruction, focusing on using a digital camera in the context of photographing the environment. The course can be structured to fit participant needs if there is previous information on them and their skill level.

Each participant will receive a CD with pdf files of artist’s lectures and some other background materials in addition to an autographed 4×6 matted photo by the artist.

Instructor Bio:
Residing in Puerto Rico, Jerry is a professional conservationist with more than 28 years of experience in the LAC region. He has worked for the US Forest Service for more than 25 years, where he is currently the Acting Director of the International Cooperation Unit. Jerry has been on long-term assignments in Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Panama. He is an Adjunct professor with Department of Forestry, Southern Illinois University and an associate with the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation at Indiana University. Jerry is also a Certified Interpretive Guide. Jerry works closely with USAID, where he has served as a Natural Resource Technical Advisor and Mission Environmental Officer in Central America. He has a broad range of expertise and experiences including environmental analysis, program management, silviculture, ecotourism development and protected area management.
Jerry is well-known for his high-quality photography that he uses to help build environmental awareness about conservation needs in the Region. His work has won a Plantinum Award from The MarCom Creative Awards and in 2007 he won the Award of Distinction from The Communicator Awards. These awards are given for artistic works that are judged to be above and beyond industry standards.
