Barbara, a resident of Puerto Rico since 1970, began her formal art training by earning a BA in Advertising and Fashion Illustration at Florida State University. She is the current president of the Asociación de Acuarelistas de Puerto Rico and an active member of the Miami Watercolor Society and the Hilton Head Art League in South Carolina. Watercolor workshops and classes are offered through the Liga de Arte in Old San Juan and the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico.
She paints in the traditional transparent watercolor method, with an aura of brilliant light resulting from the use of bright topical colors contrasted by shadows rich in color and reflected light. Light and the patterns it makes are the continuing focus of her work. In addition to original watercolors, limited edition prints and note cards are available.
